Shakes For Low Carb Diets

One of the best things to happen to low carb diets is whey protein powder. Combined with the new low carb, you can make a lot of tasty shakes for low carb diets.

Using Protein Powder to Make a Shake
One cup of the new low carb milk has three grams of carbs, and a serving of whey protein powder is just under 3 grams of carbs. Get some chocolate protein powder and throw it in the blender with the low carb milk and some ice, and you can make a thick, frothy shake. Get vanilla and you can be even more creative. Although most low carb diets don't allow for much fruit, some do allow berries--in moderation. Some of the "allowed" berries include blueberries and strawberries, so if you buy frozen blueberries and strawberries and toss them in with your low carb milk and vanilla protein powder, you have two more flavors of shakes for low carb diets. So now you have the option of a chocolate shake, a vanilla shake, a blueberry shake or a strawberry shake. You can even add a sugar substitute to give it a sweeter flavor. Now you have four more recipes for low carb diets to add to your collection. (Most of the time, this recipe for a low carb shake can be considered a meal replacement, and the best part is that it's filling.)

Of course, if you're in a hurry, you can turn to those pre-made shakes that taste like chalky water, but why do that? If you are really too rushed in the morning to make your own low carb shake when you're carb counting, make it the night before and keep it in the fridge overnight. Keep it in a shaker, then in the morning all you have to do is give it a few shakes and go.
