Low Carbs Can Taste Great
We all want the perfect body and some of us will go to startling lengths to achieve it! This ranges from going under the knife, choking back outrageously priced diet pills, eating plies of fats soaked bacon but passing on all carbs, to becoming a crazed exercise addict, spending hours at the gym in an effort to get that perfect bod.
Low carb diets: really the answer?
The more that people have gotten interested in diets that claim to help you lose weight by eating only foods low in carbs, the more researchers have looked into the benefits and drawbacks of the popular low carb diets. This is great for all of the people that had questons that could not be answered previously, but there are still many questions that remain and all of the "facts" that have accumulated can be very difficult to make any sense of. But, whatever diet you choose it is in your best interest if you find out as much as you can so that your decision will be an informed one - this is especially true with diets that promote foods with low carbs.
One sticking point with a low carbs diet
One thing has been shown to happen over and over again with people that have gone through diets low in carbs, and that is that the majority of people who had initial success with the diets inevitably gained even more weight back! This is the single most frustrating and very often depressing results of the low carbs craze. The most apparent reason for this is that low carb diets should actual be a lifestyle change and not a quick fix. Of course, they have been shown time and time again to take some weight off relatively quicky, but the goal should be to keep that weight off and in order to do that one has to stick to the diet forever. Many people miss this point.
Research has shown that a drastic decline in the amount of carbs that a person takes in can cause the body to become much more reactive to them when they do show up again in the diet. The body then tends to want to store those carbs for the long term because it has become accustomed to not having them, but since the body needs them it will horde whatever it gets. This is intensified by the fact that most of us have always taken in a fair amount of carbs, whether they were the good kind or the bad, and when we get a chance to eat them again we will often gorge on them to satisfy our cravings.
So, if you have already begun and are having success with counting carbs, that success can only be guaranteed in the long run if you make a conscious effort to maintain this diet for the long term.
