Low In Carbs

A low in carbs diet doesn't have to taste bad. In fact, some people love the foods that are low in carbs that you're allowed to have.

Low In Carbs

A common misconception about food that's low in carbs is that it's also low in flavor. But you can find food low in carbs that actually does taste good.

Food That's Low in Carbs Doesn't Have to Taste Bad

One of the reasons diets low in carbs are so popular is because you get to have all the meat you want, including steak and bacon. This is because when you're on a diet that emphasizes low carbs, your body burns fat and protein for fuel instead of carbs. So in the absence of carbs, you almost have to eat food that's high in protein (like steak) and/or fat (like bacon). And since most men like meat, this makes a low carb diet easier for them to stick with. It's harder for women though, because women naturally crave carbs, whether it's in the form of "comfort foods" like mashed potatoes or macaroni and cheese or dessert-type foods and sweets.

For women, finding low in carbs food to replace their favorites is difficult. If you're on an extremely low carb diet that's really practically a no carb diet, you really can't enjoy those foods anymore. Sure, there are lower carb versions. And choosing whole wheat pasta is a better than choosing regular pasta. Whole grain or whole wheat bread is a better choice than white bread. And whole-wheat tortillas are a better choice than regular four tortillas. Still, these foods might only have a few grams of carbs less.

And desserts? There are actually a lot of good sugar-free products on the market that can satisfy your sweet tooth and they aren't as bad as you might think. You can hardly tell a difference between sugar free jello and regular jelly. Sugar free pudding isn't bad either. Fruits are often an excellent choice too. And if you're craving a sweet drink, try Crystal Light or Diet A&W Root Beer. If you're that concerned about it, just read your labels.

Overall, if you just start making wiser choices, like eating more fruits and vegetables, you'll eventually find yourself leading a healthier lifestyle. Filling up on these foods instead won't leave you much room for junk foods. And if you have the urge to eat junk foods from time to time, watch your portion size. Doing these things is likely to get you started on the path to losing weight and being healthier.
